First Tree Pruning in Azalea Park: Safety, Well-being, and Community Care
This morning, as part of the Bosque Comunitario de Fe – Nuestros Bosques project, we carried out the first tree pruning activity in Azalea Park. The goal was twofold: to ensure the safety of community residents and to provide essential maintenance to existing trees, preserving their health and extending their benefits for years to come.

A Collective Effort for Azalea Park
The activity was led by the Observatorio Ambiental Hispano, who worked closely with residents to identify specific tree maintenance needs in the neighborhood. Their technical expertise guided the pruning work, ensuring that the trees remain strong, safe, and resilient.
We were honored to have the participation of Representative Johanna López, Community Partner of the project, who joined community members and partner organizations in this symbolic and practical activity. Her presence reaffirmed the importance of collaboration between leaders, institutions, and residents to build a greener and healthier community.
Trees, Shade, and Mental Health
During the activity, the Renacer Foundation emphasized how the shade provided by trees contributes directly to the well-being and mental health of communities. In a neighborhood like Azalea Park—where families are exposed to extreme heat—tree coverage not only lowers temperatures but also creates spaces for rest, social connection, and emotional resilience.
This integration of environmental action and mental health awareness is at the heart of the Bosque Comunitario de Fe project, which seeks to connect sustainability with the holistic well-being of families.
An Ongoing Commitment
The pruning activity represents an important step in the maintenance and conservation goals of the project, which between 2025 and 2027 aims to:
Plant 1,030 new trees (oaks and fruit trees).
Conserve and maintain 150 existing trees.
Carry out 120 educational workshops, including 12 on mental health.
Train 45 community leaders to serve as guardians of the urban forest.
Positively impact more than 6,000 households in Azalea Park (zip codes 32807 and 32822).
Join the Change
The success of today’s activity shows that when community, organizations, and leaders come together, the impact is greater—both for the environment and for the quality of life of our neighbors.
