Representative Johanna López
Representative Johanna López is an Afro-Latina leader dedicated to education, equity, and social justice in Florida. Born in Puerto Rico and a resident of Orlando, she worked for over 20 years as a teacher at Colonial High School, where she was recognized as Teacher of the Year in 2017. She became the first Latina elected to the Orange County School Board and today serves in the Florida House of Representatives, District 43. Her career stands out for advancing civic participation, inclusion, and the well-being of the Latino/Hispanic community. As Community Partner of Nuestros Bosques, she inspires our commitment to a greener, fairer, and more resilient Azalea Park.
Comissionner Antonio “Tony” Ortiz
Born in Manatí, Puerto Rico, Commissioner Antonio “Tony” Ortiz is the first and only Puerto Rican elected as Commissioner of the City of Orlando. A U.S. Navy veteran and former police officer with 14 years of service, he has led initiatives in safety, community development, civic education, and urban revitalization. Founder of crime prevention programs, citizen training academies, and international partnerships, Ortiz has driven economic growth and social strengthening in Orlando. Recognized for his commitment to the community, he joins Nuestros Bosques as a Community Partner, inspiring participation, leadership, and collective action.
